Joe flew in on Wednesday night and planned a whole surprise date on Thursday. We went to Clare V to pick out charms (I went with Ciao and the pearl heart), then to a wine bar, an amazing Thai spot for dinner, and a soft-serve spot for dessert. It was so cute that he'd made all of these plans and we had such a fun date night! (Dinner at Somtum Der was so delicious, get the larb! & if you haven't been to Dudley's yet for soft serve, it's incredible - it's just around the corner from the restaurant entrance at the window)
On Friday, both Joe and I took half days, and then my dad picked us up promptly at noon to drive out to the Hamptons! His timeliness alone was a huge birthday gift, hahaha. He's notorious for being late and I was so, so happy when he pulled up at my apartment right on time and we missed the traffic out to the Hamptons. Blessed!
We got lobster rolls upon arrival at Shinnecock Lobster Factory, a spot our family has loved for years, chatted with Bethenny Frankel for a minute (lol), and then headed back to the house for an afternoon poolside.
If you've followed closely for a while, you'll know that my aunt is an interior designer based on Long Island, and a few years ago she sold her Southampton house that our family had been visiting for years. Since she no longer has the house, we stayed instead at the recently renovated and absolutely fabulous Canoe Place properties in Hampton Bays for this trip (just a 10-minute drive from Southampton). We stayed in one of the homes, and it was absolutely perfect for our group. It was so spacious and lovely, and I couldn't recommend it enough!
Joe and I brought a few bottles of wine that we picked out in Tuscany a few months ago to drink throughout the weekend, so we popped one of those bottles and got ready for dinner! I wore a fabulous dress that I purchased on Nantucket in June, and it was an absolutely gorgeous evening. We didn't want to risk getting stuck in Friday night traffic, so we stayed in Hampton Bays for dinner and had the loveliest evening at Cowfish. Everything was delicious and the restaurant is situated right on the water, so we could enjoy the sunset while we ate.
On Saturday morning I took Joe on a scenic drive through Southampton since he'd never been before, and then we hung out by the pool for the rest of the morning. In the afternoon, we girls went shopping while the boys went golfing, and I had such a fabulous afternoon bopping around Southampton.
On Sunday, my actual birthday, Joe and I woke up around 5:30 to go watch the sunrise. I'm so, so glad we did this! It was so special and just made me feel like the luckiest person in the world to be able to celebrate another happy year of life in such a beautiful place with people I love. Really, all weekend I just kept thinking about how good life has been to me lately and how lucky I am to have the happy life that I do.
The sunrise was so beautiful, and then we picked up Dunkin on our way back to the house -- we got munchkins (my favorite, haha) and I got my first pumpkin iced coffee of the year! We listened to Taylor Swift and I drank my pumpkin coffee and ate my donuts and it really just felt like heaven.
We had to pack up and leave the house around 9ish because we were going to the Yankees game back in the city! My dad is from Boston and is a huge Red Sox fan, so a few months ago when I saw that the Yankees and Red Sox were playing each other on my actual birthday, I knew we had to go. We had amazing seats and the game was SO GOOD. Seriously, like home runs every inning and the Red Sox ended up winning by 1 point in the ninth inning!
On Sunday night we went for dinner at a new Italian spot in Soho, Sartiano's. The vibe of the restaurant was very cool, but to be completely honest, the food was just ok. We didn't love it, but at this point, we were all so tired from the weekend anyway, that it wasn't too big of a deal.
All in all, it was an incredible weekend and I am so, so grateful! Thank you all for following along and for all of the birthday wishes.
xoxo
You look beautiful in this dress. I also have purchased something like this when I was on grand canyon cheap tours
