This weekend turned out to be gorgeous. The forecast initially said it was going to rain nonstop, but to our surprise, it was sunny and in the 70s all weekend long! Yesterday my mom and I went for a long afternoon walk in the sun and decided we wanted to come home and make frosé to enjoy out on our porch. So... that is just what we did! Making the frosé was pretty simple, and it turned out absolutely delicious!
I have tried to make frosé before, and it hasn't always turned out the best. This time though... perfect. I think the key was making the strawberry "simple syrup" ahead of time. See details on that below!
What You'll Need
rosé (I read somewhere that the darker the rosé, the better, so we used a semi-dark color... not sure what difference this makes though)
vodka
strawberry simple syrup: add 1/4 cup of sugar, 1/2 cup of water, and about 1 cup of sliced strawberries (roughly half a container and then sliced) to a pot and let it boil before reducing the heat and using a masher to mash the strawberries. Then, let everything simmer until it turns into a sort of sauce. We just let it cool for a couple of hours in the afternoon and it turned out perfect and not too sweet! If you don't have a masher, I would suggest just chopping up the strawberries and adding to the pot once the water and sugar have begun boiling. Stir frequently!
How to Make it
It really depends how much frosé you're trying to make to get your ratio. We made about 4 drinks using 1/2 a bottle of rosé, roughly 3-4 shots of vodka, and maybe 4 tablespoons of the simple syrup. I added everything to a blender with a ton of ice and just blended until smooth!
voila! It's definitely warm-weather approved because, by the time you add all of the ice, it's really not too high-alcohol anymore. So perfect for summer.
Have you made frosé before? There are definitely a few different ways to do it!
