March Favorites

Was March not the weirdest month... ever? Or what? For me, the first two weeks were spent at school, then spring break, then all of a sudden, quarantine at home (which isn't ending any time soon). At the beginning of the month, Coronavirus seemed like such a distant worry. A month ago, none of my classes were canceled, graduation was still on my radar, and senior year was really fun. Suddenly, as if overnight, I found myself reading the news 100 times a day and unable to go back to school to even grab my books and binders for class. A month ago, who saw any of this coming?!

I have said it before, and I will continue to say, that I am sure there will be light at the end of the tunnel. I am trying to focus on the positive during this time... Yeah, I'm not going to a college class ever again, and I don't know when (or if) I'll see my friends in the next couple of months, but at least I am at home with my mom, when some people are sick, alone, and feeling very isolated right now. I am counting my blessings and trying to feel grateful!

I also want to say thank you to everyone who is working hard right now. Teachers who have adjusted curriculums for us, grocery store clerks who make sure we can still get anything we need, nurses, doctors, mailmen, and so many more people... THANK YOU!

Let's jump into the post! There are a few things I loved this month, both pre-quarantine, and currently.

I've made quite a few playlists since being at home, including quarantunes, indie quarantunes, and "at the beach with you," which I wrote a whole post on here -- that one is a combination of country, oldies, and folk, and it reminds me of summer.

(I also had a moment the other day where I just needed to listen to Taylor Swift for a bit. so... I put my favorite Taylor Swift songs into a playlist and so articulately entitled it: "having a moment" -- it was my truth at the time)

By now, who hasn't watched Tiger King?? There are only seven episodes, so I highly recommend just putting it on if you're in the mood to be fascinated, horrified, and captivated all at once for a couple of hours. Also, once you've watched it, scrolling through the related memes all over Instagram will be a lot more enjoyable.

Little Fires Everywhere was one of the best books I read in 2019 and it recently came out as a series on Hulu (with Reese Witherspoon!). I watched the first episode a few days ago. It's pretty close to how I imagined the book, which is always pleasing. I'm excited to get more into it. (but probably won't, ngl)

I also watched the first episode of High Fidelity with Zoe Kravitz a few weeks ago. I'm really obsessed with her. The show is funny, light, and based in NYC. She owns a record shop, too, so of course I was into it.

OBVIOUSLY MY BUCKET HAT!!! Haha. If you follow me on Instagram, you're probably so tired of seeing the bucket hat by now; I wore it so much throughout March. (sold out now, but loving the other colors here) It was pretty much the best purchase I've ever made.

Also, I mentioned in February's favorites post that I finally got my hands on this pair of Veja's! I wore them a ton this month, broke them in, and now they're easily my favorite, go-to shoe in my wardrobe. More sizes available here and here!

I loved wearing my croissant ring every day. It quickly became the favorite of my everyday jewelry pieces; I still can't believe it was under $40!

Since being at school, I forgot about the Diptyque candle I put in my room at home over winter break! I switched from my go-to Baies to the lavender candle last season, and it was such a nice surprise when I re-entered my quarantine cave (aka my room at home) last week. I am spending 95% of my time in my room these days, so it's lovely and relaxing to have this candle going while I'm working, writing, and chilling. The lavender scent is strong enough to impact the room, but not overwhelming! The scent is light and soothing; I recommend it!

I mentioned on Friday that I ordered Verity by Colleen Hoover! It came on Monday, and I've already finished it. I plan to write a blog post on all of the books I end up reading during this quarantine. But... let me just say, this book is OUTSTANDING. I highly recommend it. I loved it so much that I just ordered another book by Hoover to read next: Regretting You.

In addition to books, I've been reading Man Repeller nonstop -- I loved this article on the things we will miss, won't miss, and won't forget after quarantine is over. A great reminder that there are some positive things coming from this whole situation!!

I don't wear makeup on a day-to-day basis as it is, so quarantine hasn't really changed that for me. However, I did get a new moisturizer that I am OBSESSED with. It's less expensive than the Bobbi Brown moisturizer I have sworn by for eight years, and it might almost be better. Can you believe this?! If you're an OG, you know how obsessed I've always been with my moisturizer, so this is big! Maybe it's the scent or the creaminess... but this new moisturizer has changed things for me.

Unfortunately, it is still very cold outside, so I haven't quite gotten back into running outside. I have mostly just been walking my dog, doing a lot of headstands and yoga in my room, and trying out different at-home workouts, like the ones on Cali Fuller's Instagram and Madfit's YouTube channel!

I've been very happy to be at home where my mom (aka, a step away from a pro chef) has been cooking up a storm for us. I did, however, make these bars on my own the other day, and I'm loving them for breakfast. I also made a huge jar of pickled red onion, which I enjoy most days on a sandwich or salad for lunch!

I am BEYOND excited to share my Quarantine Cocktail Menu in tomorrow's blog post!!!! Come back tomorrow to check it out :)

Here's to hoping April looks a little brighter than March! What was something you loved in March?
