I promise I didn't forget about this post! This is long overdue but I am back to share the second installment of what I've read this summer. If you missed the first one, you can check it out here!
THE ART OF RACING IN THE RAIN by Garth Stein // 4.5 stars
Omg. This book is one everyone should read. It's so, so sweet. It's sad at some parts, but just a beautiful story told from the perspective of a dog. I am so insanely excited for this movie to come out. I talked about it in this post a couple of week's ago; the trailer looks amazing and the cast includes some of my favorite people! It's a story of loss, love, and just how our lives look from the eyes of our dogs!!
THE GUEST COTTAGE by Nancy Thayer // 4 stars
Oh... this book is so sweet. A single father and a recently divorced mother both take their kids to Nantucket during difficult times for a summer getaway. They end up accidentally renting the same guest cottage from their friends, and decide to just make it work and share the cottage for the summer instead of cancelling and returning home. The book tells the story of their summer and how the families bond during their time on Nantucket. It's a great book and such a sweet, idyllic beach read.
THE PERFECT COUPLE by Elin Hilderbrand // 4 stars
I love an Elin Hilderbrand novel like nothing else. Her books are hands down my summer favorites and no other author compares in my mind! This one was great... a little different than her usual Nantucket-based beach novels because this one was actually a light murder mystery kind of! It's the "perfect" couple's wedding weekend on Nantucket but the maid of honor has been found dead in the ocean the morning of the wedding. As the book tries to uncover what happened and who (if anyone) did it, a bunch of secrets are revealed.
DRUNK TANK PINK by Adam Alter // 3 stars
I very rarely go for nonfiction, so this is unsual for me! This book just sounded so interesting to me, so I picked it up. It was really, really, interesting. However... I was a little skeptical of the credibility of the claims and theories. That said, I took the information with a grain of salt. If you are interested in theories of how "our environment unconsciously yet dramatically shapes the judgments and decisions we make every day" then I would definitely recommend this! It is a pretty cool book and fascinating how our minds work based on our environment and even little things like names, labels, and colors.
CURRENTLY READING:
Both are amazing so far! I usually don't read two books at once but I've started both of these and loving.
Have you read anything great this summer?! As always, you can keep up with what I'm reading and find my book recommendations on my Goodreads page!
