Je Ne Sais Quoi

My french exchange student arrives today!!! I'm excited to meet her and spend the next two weeks with her, but I am so nervous. I'm trying my hardest to go into this open minded, but I can't help but worry a little about what could happen! We've been emailing a lot recently, so I'm pretty sure she will be super nice. Because I don't have school tomorrow, I think I will take her to the grocery store to pick out some food she likes and to experience an American grocery store, take her downtown to the lake and to do a little shopping, and maybe meet up with some of my friends who also have french students!

However, I need your help. Have you ever had an exchange student before? Any tips? I'm all ears... I have no idea what I'm doing!!

  1. I've hosted lots of French exchange students, and was even an exchange student in France myself! Just be open minded, patient and willing to try new things! She's here to learn about American Culture, but her idea of American life might be totally different from your reality, do the things she wants, but also show her your personal culture! I'm sure you''ll love her!

  3. That sounds so cool! Do you get to go to France after, or is it a one-way exchange? Hope you have tons of fun.

  4. I am super late to replaying but I just now saw this post, and wanted to add my two cents! I was in you exact position last year when I hosted an exchange student from Germany. I think the only thing I wished someone had told me beforehand was that she was not going to be exactly what I pictured but that was okay!! In the beginning I was really nervous, but towards the end of her stay I opened up to her more, and saw we had many similarities. On my trip to visit her is when we really clicked and she is now one of my closest( but sadly farthest) friends. Do you get to go to France? If so, have a "bon" time;)
